Paul Robeson was one of the commanding figures of the twentieth century: a celebrated actor, an internationally renowned bass-baritone and an activist whose convictions made him both admired and controversial. He also had a special connection with Eastbourne, performing in the town on at least nine occasions between 1929 and 1939, including a 1938 concert that packed the Winter Garden Floral Hall with around 2,000 people.

For Black History Month, Love Robeson looks back at the man behind that remarkable career through songs and recordings, short films about his life, acting and activism, and a conversation about what his principles mean today.
