Peacehaven Town Council has officially launched its search for the next Youth Mayor, inviting young residents to step forward, represent their peers, and become the voice of the next generation in local government.

The Council is looking for motivated young people aged 13 to 17 who live in Peacehaven or within a three-mile radius. The role offers a unique platform for local youth to collaborate directly with Town Councillors, ensuring that youth perspectives are at the heart of community decisions.

To help prospective candidates learn more about the position, the council is hosting an introductory event this Friday 16th October at 7pm at Community House, Peacehaven BN10 8BB. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet current Town Councillors, ask questions, and discover how the role can help them develop vital skills.

Town Clerk for Peacehaven Town Council, George Dyson, has expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative: "Our young people are the future of Peacehaven, and it is vital that their unique perspectives, creativity, and ideas are heard at the highest levels of local governance. Serving as Youth Mayor is an incredible opportunity to make a lasting difference, develop lifelong leadership skills, and actively shape the town we all care about so deeply. I highly encourage every eligible young person with a passion for our community to step forward and get involved."

Key Benefits of the Youth Mayor Role:
Represent Your Peers: Work alongside local leaders to influence decisions that impact young people in the community.
Build Your Future: Gain valuable leadership, public speaking, and political experience to enhance CVs and college or university applications.
Develop New Skills: Step outside your comfort zone and get an insider’s view of how local governance works.

Young people, parents, and educators interested in attending the event or learning more about the application process can book their free place by visiting the official registration link. https://bit.ly/4jgmFHP or via www.peacehaventowncouncil.gov.uk
