Friends of the South Downs lead a guided archaeology walk on Firle Beacon, a high South Downs landmark with commanding views. Farming practices here mean prehistoric monuments survive well, and the route takes in a Neolithic long barrow, Bronze Age barrow cemeteries, Iron Age trackways and Roman field systems.

The walk starts at 9.30am and aims to finish by 12.30pm. It is just shy of 6 miles, so please bring a packed lunch or refreshments. Start point details are sent after booking. The car park is pay and display, with no facilities. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads where the route passes through fields of livestock.
