A free family-friendly event to view a partial eclipse of the Sun from Seaford seafront, near the Martello Tower at the eastern end of the esplanade. We will experience a deep partial solar eclipse, with the Sun about 91% obscured by the Moon at maximum. Locally, the eclipse begins at 6:17pm, reaches maximum at 7:13pm, and ends at 8:06pm. Committee members will hand out special eclipse glasses, set up our hydrogen-alpha solar telescope, and other telescopes and cameras safely configured for viewing the Sun. Parking is free. By public transport, there are half-hourly direct trains to Seaford from Lewes and from Brighton, about 20 and 35 minutes duration respectively.
