“I have a brain that functions in the 21st century, and cannot enjoy five minutes’ worth of story stretched for over an hour of unbearable boredom.”*

Come to the screening of The Cabinet of Dr Caligari and see if you agree!

The Cabinet of Dr Caligari (1920, dir. Robert Wiene) is a key work of German Expressionist cinema and has influenced generations of filmmakers.

Mark Poole will introduce the film with a talk about its making, its directors, and the films and filmmakers it has influenced. The film will then be screened, followed by an analysis of key images and a Q&A.

No Googling from behind the saloon doors. We’re watching you.

Tickets: £6

Whether you’re a devoted cinephile or simply curious about this landmark of silent cinema, come along for an evening of film, discussion and discovery.
