A talk on support for poor children in and out of the workhouse in 19th Century Sussex – an illustrated talk by Dr Mary Rudling
Mary is a member of the Royal Historical Society and a volunteer at the Sussex Archaeological Society library. She began studying poor relief in Sussex some ten years ago for an MA dissertation and, more recently, for a PhD in 2022.

Her talk will cover the range of support offered to poor children including apprentices, placements-in-service and education.

Hosted by The Friends of Anne of Cleves’ House, doors open at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start.

A selection of drinks will be available from the bar.

Tickets are £5 for members of Friends of Anne of Cleves’ House, and £10 for non-members.
